Whilst Radcliffe strays into the depths of romantic comedies, it would seem his days playing the infamous boy wizard have truly passed, as he is every bit his awkward self in the first official trailer for the film. In the trailer, we see Radcliffe struggle to win a game of table tennis, push a dude out of a window and assist in helping someone get the tiniest dress in the world on. Sufficed to say, he’s been pretty busy. Zoe Kazan’s Chandry offers ample amounts of humour to the trailer, with her victory dances and quirky personality, and from what we can see from the trailer, the film actually looks pretty solid for a sometimes hit and miss genre.
The trailer does make the time-old mistake of including perhaps a little too much, but nonetheless, it still looks like it will be a rather touching but quirky film that won’t drag down with too much romance and not enough comedy, without turning into some sort of slapstick sham. What If is available in cinemas in the UK on the 22nd August this year, after having its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September of last year.
