The first film, Salomé, is a standard adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s controversial play (With Jessica Chastain reprising the lead role that she played back in 2006), whilst Wilde Salomé is a documentary exploring the making of the film and exploring the play itself. The trailer is a mash up of clips from both films, some from the actual play and some of Al Pacino talking about his love for the play, the experience he had watching it and the connection he felt to Wilde. It also portrays the struggles they encountered, including a clip of Pacino shouting at is crew “I got four days to shoot a 90 minute play!”.
The trailer also advertises that Pacino and Chastain will be in conversation with Stephen Fry (who famously played Oscar Wilde in the biopic of his life) where they will discuss both films.
The films are showing for one night only at the BFI Southbank and 200 other participating cinemas, on September 21st.
