Narcissists concerns itself with the multi-stranded story of an investigation into the disappearance of a missing tourist, and the connection to a mysterious, but clearly very dangerous woman. The investigators into this case follow three separate characters as they try to piece together to the story. However, each of these characters struggle with their own lives, trying to keep their own worlds intact despite the inescapable stains left by the darkness in which they spend so long, and their mutual connection to a former soldier-turned-gangster.
We’ve talked about Josh Crook’s upcoming film before (here and here), but the newest trailer is something that appears to be aiming for something slightly different. Where the first look at the film offered a bit more of a hint towards a story, this second, much longer trailer tries to convey something less tangible. It’s not shooting for narrative, but more the mood and tone of the film. A gloomy intrigue is the backbone of what we get here, snatches of character and the dark world in which they exist, writ in a visual of dark shadow and neon light, mixed with a more traditional use of black-and-white. There’s something in there, so it shall be very intriguing to see what the final product looks like.
