If you haven’t been aware of Josh Crooks’ stuff then you are insane. Already in his most recent short One Bad Day, he has solidified himself as a brand new screenwriter and director who is set to make waves with his talent. Here is he back again with a full length feature, Narcissists that is going to be one of the hot independent films of 2014. And just as any film lover wants, a brand new teaser trailer has fallen into our laps to make us salivate and want more.
Narcissists is set in the near future. When a tourist suddenly disappears, a crooked cop, a private investigator and tired gangster, three sides of law enforcement, come together in order to solve the case. However, the trail seems to highlight their own misgivings and shortfalls as each must bare all in the cold harsh light of day. And as the three move closer to solving the crime, will they learn to face their own personal demons?
The two thirty second teaser trailers are just brimming with promise. In just under a minute, Crooks has showcased an eye for visuals and a flair for angles that a lot of more accomplished directors don’t. Balancing the bright lights of colour and the absent black and white, there is so much here that we can feast upon. Add this with a plot that is much more than intriguing and some already impressive acting, Narcissists is a holds so much promise already. 2014 is going to be an exciting venture if this is anything to go by.
