Starring a whole stellar cast including Terrence Howard, Garrett Hedlund, Amy Adams, Richard Jenkins and Jessica Findley Brown, Lullaby sees a father diagnosed with cancer. Further down the line, his children are all grown up and he spends his days battling against the disease. When he chooses to come off life support, the family are thrown into turmoil; do they support his decision to die justly or continue to fight for his life? What would you do? The son Jonathon has just 48 hours to make the most of his father’s remaining time.
There is something so compelling about the Lullaby trailer that leaves you breathless and astonished. The emotion with the movie is already so highly charged that it will indict many into goose-bumps and tears. To truly carry this off, the film need to have strong performance that gets to the humanity of these cruel decisions faced. It needs to not ride solely on over sentimentality and present the characters, situations and the disease as real as possible. It feels as though it may be up-lifting and wrought all at the same time, focusing on the difficulties that cancer can throw at you.
It may just want you to hold your family close.
