Of course we do.
She is the most prolific ‘rags to riches’ lady to ever grace our cinema screens, as she did all the way back in 1950 when Disney first unveiled their second official Disney Princess, with Snow White being the first in 1937. Based on the original story, Cendrillon, written in 1697 by Charles Perrault, Disney’s Cinderella is described by some as being ‘the most famous and beloved princesses of all time’.
Evil stepmothers, stepsisters, Fairy Godmothers and pumpkins turning into horse-drawn carriages are key to Cinderella’s story, and of course, so is her Prince Charming. One can only begin to wonder who could fill the title roles of this film, and if a ‘bibbidi-bobbidi-boo’ will be heard in this new version! Let’s hope that this live action version will support and compliment Cinderella’s lifelong and enviable legacy as it stands today.
Seemingly following in Maleficient’s (2014) footsteps, Cinderella is also an upcoming live action version of the original Disney story, and Disney has released a brand new teaser trailer for audiences to enjoy.
The trailer is, I have to say, very pretty, much like the Princess herself. Cinderella’s most famous symbol, her glass slipper, is the focus in this trailer. It shows the beauty and complexity of the light when viewed through glass, with its shimmering fractals and crystal-like glimmer, possibly symbolising Cinderella herself, and her rise to leading a better life with her Prince away from her evil family.
At the end, a small butterfly rests on the shoe, and the release date displays. Beautiful, simple and astounding all at the same time is the teaser trailer, which advertises the film’s release date as March 2015. Damn, just less than a year to wait then!
