Okay, he did it once before only to come back with a typically astounding film, but let’s not run on the assumption he’ll do that twice.
To accompany the release of The Wind Rises – a fictionalised biography of Jiro Horikoshi, the visionary designer of Mitsubishi A6M aircraft – Studiocanal have released two more clips from the film to try and stir your desire to take yourself to see the final work of wonderful filmmaker. The first clip sees the moment Jiro is riding a train when an earthquake (specifically the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923) strikes. The buildings sink into the ground before Jiro’s eyes as the train he’s on threatens to derail.
The Wind Rises is in cinemas now.
