Melissa McCarthy is a force to be reckoned with. As she strut’s Leicester Square’s red carpet at last night’s Spy premiere, the success of her work and critically acclaim in Bridesmaid has seen her soar as an actress to be watch out for. Despite a few bumps in the road, her latest effort - another collaboration with Paul Feig - looks to put back on that stellar trajectory.
As the stars of one of the most incredible comedies this year flock to the UK capital, the sunshine’s as the James Bond genre is turned upside down with hilarity and action sequences.

Despite a few bumps in the road, her latest effort - another collaboration with Paul Feig - looks to put back on that stellar trajectory.
As the stars of one of the most incredible comedies this year flock to the UK capital, the sunshine’s as the James Bond genre is turned upside down with hilarity and action sequences.
Speaking of the film, McCarthy says “it was a big risk to take on this kind of genre.” The film revolves around a lowly CIA worker who is relegated to field work when a leak uncovers all the secret identities of the agents. “It was important to not make it a spoof but show high octane action sequences.” With a seemingly timid woman at the core of the film, opposite to the sleek image of espionage, McCarthy said “There’s a lot of women out there to do it, so why not? I wanted to showan interesting character as a spy.” Enjoying the shooting, McCarthy did 90% of the stunts.
Director Paul Feig, who had done work such as the aforementioned Bridesmaids says “It was easy to get all actors on board” as he scoops McCarthy in for a third time and will continue to work with her on Bridesmaids. “She’s a great gal” he gushes about her seeming use.” Alongside her is action superstar Jason Statham, comedienne Miranda Hart and actor Jude Law; “Everyone was pretty much on the game,” adding that he wrote characters specifically for Statham and Heart. Also on the roaster is relative newcomer Nargis Fakhri, who plays one of the antagonists, “It was tough but a lot of fun.”
The premiere was a lot of fun, mirroring that of the film. As audiences gathered and wait in anticipation for a blockbuster full of comedy, Spy looks to be raucous and rambunctious.
