Anyone who has ever lost someone important to them knows how difficult it is to let go. It’s not easy to accept that a relationship that meant so much can just suddenly be over, and so some people will embark on ridiculous and bizarre endeavours in an attempt to hold that connection that little bit longer. For a young man named Peter, that relationship was with his grandfather. Obviously growing up very close to him, Peter finds it understandably tricky to let go of his grandfather without doing something in his memory. In the upcoming short film from director Paul Syrstad and written by Saul Matlock, this young man chooses to take up his grandfather’s lifelong quest to find a mythical bird he claimed lived in the woods near his home. Equipped with some binoculars and his grandfather’s notebook, Peter sets out to find the fabled Rainbowgale.
Now sitting on Kickstarter, the Rainbowgale team are asking the public for help with funding. However, as Syrstad and Matlock point out on the page and in the video, the filming itself is actually already completed. The funds they need are for post-production costs and film festival entry fees, which will allow them to bring their story of an impossible task undertaken out of love to its highest standard and share it with the film-viewing public.
