If you’re a fan of The Hunger Games, then you will be well acquainted with the song called The Hanging Tree, as sung by Katniss. As a fan of the films and this song in particular, you can finally put all of those hours of singing this repeatedly to good use: to help you win what is honestly the best prize of all.
Lionsgate UK is collaborating with Youtuber / Vlogger, Carrie Hope Fletcher, to bring an exciting competition your way. Fletcher has over 550,000 subscribers on Youtube and 350,000 followers on Twitter, for her vlogs and musical talents. Her first book is due to be released April 2015 and there is more information about this on her Youtube Channel, including the cover reveal!

The Hanging Tree achieved a place in the Top 20 Single Chart in December 2014, inspiring Fletcher to create her own cover of the song, with the hope of hearing some from the fans too. There’s now an incentive to gather your confidence, if you happen to be umming and ahhing, trying to decide if it’s worth potentially embarrassing yourself attempting to sing (we’ve all been there!). Oh boy, is it ever worth it! This is one prize you do not want to miss out on.
Entries for the competition should be you singing The Hanging Tree, and it needs to be uploaded with the hashtag, #MockingjayCover. Get creative, and try to keep it unique, whether with costumes or a scene, make sure you stand out, as the winner … yes, we’ll finally reveal the prize… Drumroll please.

Don’t forget that this is the final film in the franchise and so this will be you final chance to live out your dream of being there at that red carpet as the actors, potentially Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci, amongst many more, walking past you and breathing the same air as you.
Monday 16th March marks the anticipated release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 on DVD and Bluray. Don’t forget you pick up your copy so you’re ready for, not only the competition, but also Part 2, out later this year.
