We are introduced to the key actors in the film: Dylan O’Brien (Thomas), Kaya Scodelario (Teresa), Will Poulter (Gally), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Newt) and Ki Hong Lee (Minho). Amongst clips from the film, many of which have been seen in previous trailers, we see something very rare on a film set. Most of the featurette is dedicated to showcasing the strong friendships that the cast have formed, leading first-time director Wes Ball to comment on how lucky he was to assemble such a close cast. While it may seem like PR speak to pretend like everybody gets along, from the snippets of behind-the-scenes footage and conversations, it does seem like, in this case, it is genuine.
Kaya Scodelario talks about seeing the boys in the cast as her brothers, and about how her nervousness over joining a cast exclusively of boys was unnecessary. Very little is revealed about the actual film, except for the fact that the lead is called Thomas, he has no memory, and a lot of shots of boys yelling, but what this featurette does show is a strong chemistry between the various young cast members that will hopefully translate to an even stronger chemistry between their characters.
The Maze Runner will be released in the UK on 10th October. Will you be watching?
