Guardians of the Galaxy also stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, a brash adventurer who is pursued fearlessly by powerful villain Ronan, after he steals a mysterious orb. Quill must team up with a quartet of misfits in order to evade his pursuers, which come in form of Rocket the Raccoon, a weaponry specialist; his side-kick Groot, a tree-like humanoid; Gamora, ‘the deadliest woman in the universe’; and Drax the Destroyer, who is hell-bent on revenge. When Quill finds out the powers the orb possesses, he must rival his troops to help defend the Galaxy; thus the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ is formed. Marvel’s latest adventure opens in cinemas on the 31st July in the UK and the 1st August in the USA.
With only 17 days to go until the release of Guardians of the Galaxy in the UK (plus an extra day for people in America), Marvel has released a new featurette for the film that focuses on none other than the enigmatic Gamora! In this new clip, we get to hear from Zoe Saldana herself, as she discusses the character and the role she has to play in the film; including her motivations and her fighting skills. Described by Saldana as a ‘stealth assassin’, Gamora looks every bit the action queen, as she literally kicks her way through the trailer. We are also fortunate enough to see more little clips of Gamora’s fight scene with Karen Gillan’s Nebula, as the character narrates her story; saying she has lived most of her ‘life surrounded by enemies’. There’s plenty to get stuck into in the minute-long featurette, and it certainly sheds some more light on the character herself, with Saldana giving a little bit of background info on the character and what her ultimate motivations and characteristics might be. One thing’s for sure, Gamora certainly looks like a force to be reckoned with and it will be intriguing to see how she plays out on screen amongst the other characters.
