Liesel discovers one she will never forget, the foster family who have just taken her in are at odds with the fascist ideologies sweeping their beloved nation and are risking their lives to hide a Jewish refugee, Max, under their stairs. Leisel learns to read with the help of her new family, and finds solace from the slow descent into war in stealing books and sharing them with Max. Their imagination inspires hope while outside their walls the deafening events go on.
The Book Thief is a dark story of survival in Nazi Germany, with a light guiding you through the tunnel, and looks to be an incredibly moving adaptation of the famed novel of the same name. With very little promotion for the film it could be one of the best kept secrets of the year.
Directed by Brian Perceivable and starring Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson, The Book Thief is set to be an amazing and insightful movie.
