Yes, we have been gifted with two separate fan Q&A events to revel and participate in, bringing us that ever bit closer to the actual film. by Melissa Haggar Animated feature films. They tend to be a hit or miss in the industry and for audiences as it is always so difficult to get every little feature right. The visuals have to be astounding, the animation on point and the story has to be engaging enough (not to mention make sense!) to maintain attention spans. Animation is a long process, and one that requires dedication, which means studios tend to shy away from these types of productions as they can be so risky. So, in a more recent world where the most notable animations are undoubtedly Toy Story and Frozen (and pretty much anything Disney can come up with, ever), are there any other animated features that can compete with the conglomerates that are Disney and Pixar? The answer takes the form of a small yellow man made entirely out of Lego – yes, its 2014’s The Lego Movie. by Melissa Haggar All rise for the performance capture role King, the one, the only, Andy Serkis. One of the well-respected actors, Serkis has propelled the world of motion capture into dizzying new heights, turning it into an art form among men. Garnering copious amounts of critical acclaim for his performances, in roles that are not typically appreciated enough by critics; Serkis is a true visionary and deserves to be remembered for his great performances. Of course, to say Andy Serkis has only flexed his talents in roles technically ‘off-screen’ would be foolish, the actor has also appeared ‘on-screen’ in several roles, and has proved that he isn’t just an one-trick pony. With the release of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, where Serkis plays Caeser, the leader of the apes, we look back at some of Serkis’ greatest films to date. by Melissa Haggar As the day of release fast approaches, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes comes bearing new gifts – in the form of our glorious Bumper News Edition!
