Here, I’m With Geek explores some of the best films of Doctor Who stars, both before and after their adventures in time and space. by Hayley Charlesworth Actor, writer, and professional Best Friend of Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, is just one of the many stars of The Monuments Men, which gets its DVD release this week. But with a long and versatile career behind him, what are the essential films of the Damon oeuvre? by Hayley Charlesworth Birdemic: Shock and Terror is a bit of an enigma. When it burst onto the bad movie scene, full of bad acting, worse editing and clip art animations of murderous exploding birds, we all thought it must have been a joke. But then, while all the actors seemed to be having fun, director James Nguyen was taking things deadly seriously. Yes, even the coat hanger battle. Birdemic’s popularity with cult audiences guaranteed a sequel. and the result was even more bizarre, and brilliant. by Hayley Charlesworth This may be categorised under TerriBrill, but the High School Musical series leans more towards the “brill” half of that made-up word. It’s no Citizen Kane, sure, but it is a source of unbridled joy and camp sensibility. No film in the series, however, has such a concentrated dose of brilliant madness than High School Musical 2. by Hayley Charlesworth Experiment 626 (which may, or may not be Stitch's real name) is an event embarked upon by the I'm With Geek Film Team. Film knowledge was unearthed, truths were found and a DVD exchange took place. These are the true life stories from that experiment... To Hayley from Gloria Despite Christopher Nolan being a pretty big name in cinema, many people haven’t seen his early works. Unlike the Batman trilogy and The Prestige his first feature film, Following is very much driven by its narrative and certainly lacks in the special effects department. One of the main reasons I enjoyed Following so much is that whatever you are expecting when you watch it, it won’t be that at all. It is shot in black and white which gives this thriller a very noir feel, and also makes you think about the process of filmmaking before such technology came into play. Another fact that impressed me about the film is that the cast and crew who were involved did this in their spare time and were only able to shoot on the weekends due to being in full-time work. |
