Back in May, we started fixing the Harry Potter series and now we are back to finish what we started, much like Voldemort's Harry Potter vengeance. We’re completely an eight-parter; so settle in, grab enough food to last you a few weeks and call in sick from work. Let’s get ready for the ride of your life because we’re in this for the long haul...

...Actually, don’t call in sick. By the time I’ve finished with this you'll have been fired. The same goes for the settling in; you’ll have bedsores and other horrible maladies that we won’t be held responsible for. We love you reader, please don’t hurt yourself on our account.

Today, we continue with our journey through the magical world of Harry Potter with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The second film in the franchise features the introduction of Dobby the house elf and gives us some backstory for Voldemort. But again, as with the first, there are a few incongruities between the films and the books that could be sorted out.

Today we start a series of articles that revolves around one of the most significant film series of the past decade; Harry Potter.

The Harry Potter films are unique, never before had a film used a core cast of actors that we would grow up along side the series. The first film was also made when only the fourth book had come out, leaving us with an unfinished story, and the numerous directors choosing what they thought would be the most important plot points and disregarding others. Because of that, and with the gift of hindsight, these films are ripe for fixing in post. Some of these could be considered little niggles that are just nitpicking (heck, some people say that’s the entire purpose of these articles), but I think that these could still be fixed and turn the series into an absolutely incredible tale of magic that’s even more akin to the books than the films already were.

Ratchet and Clank: The Movie - Are We Worried?

I never thought this day would come… Ratchet and Clank is coming to the cinema. So why am I so worried about it? For those of you who don’t know Ratchet and Clank, let me give you a bit of backstory. Ratchet is a Lombax (the last of his kind, but we’ll get to that later) living on the planet Veldin. Clank is a small robot with a high IQ who was created initially, one is led to believe, by accident before later discovering he is to be senior caretaker to the Great Clock in the Exact Centre of the Universe (give or take fifty feet). The duo first met when Clank uncovers a plot to destroy hundreds of planets so a new one can be built. He attempt to enlist the help of Captain Qwark (a notable celebrity) to stop this, but crash lands on Veldin and meets Ratchet who agrees to help him. The two eventually find Qwark who betrays them and leaves them for dead. They survive and eventually find and defeat the big baddie, living a semi-famous life afterwards.

Hit Stop: Pineapple Express (2008)

Pineapple Express is probably funny if you’re in the right state of mind. That state of mind? Stoned. If you hadn’t guessed, Pineapple Express is the epitome of a stoner comedy. Seth Rogen plays Dale Denton, a process server who habitually partakes in smoking marijuana. One time, after visiting his drug dealer, James Franco, Denton stops outside a house, lights up and proceeds to witness the murder of a drug kingpin by a corrupt cop and rival drug baron. The rest of the film follows a fairly predictable fare as Denton and his dealer away from people who are trying to kill them.

Hello again readers. This week I’m looking at a film that tested quite favourably with most critics when it came out. However, when I watched it, I was underwhelmed by the whole thing. Maybe it was because I haven’t read the books or I was not the target demographic (I would be very shocked if I was) but I just couldn’t shake the feeling that this film wasn’t really trying.

Before we begin. I’d just like to say again that I have no idea about the original source material. What I say here is my own opinion, based solely on the film and may not line up with the books.

This week we continue the green theme by looking at another superhero flick; The Green Hornet. (Hmm, I guess you could include comic and hero in the continuing themes column too.) I should probably confess, I have no idea what the Green Hornet is about, aside from what I saw in the film. So everything I say could change the character entirely from how it was originally envisioned by the creators. But I suppose that’s why I try and fix these things (that and the inflated sense of ego I get).

Hit Stop: Green Lantern (2011)

I am fairly certain that I was the key demographic for the Green Lantern film. I’m in my twenties, a big fan of the Green Lantern franchise and I love to watch films. So I’m not entirely sure how the filmmakers were able to get the film so spectacularly wrong that I was able to write nearly four and a half pages of notes about what I didn’t like regarding the outcome. Without further ado, let’s air the grievances of a film that has already bombed at the cinema and on DVD.

Ryan Reynolds plays Hal Jordan, a hotshot test pilot who is chosen to become part of the intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns by an alien who crash-landed on Earth. Jordan then has to defeat Parallax, the living embodiment of fear that has taken over his childhood friend.
