Excited for the new Hunger Games instalment? Laura W gives us the lowedown!
Welcome to the 75th Annual Hunger Games!
Two Tributes from each of the 12 Districts will once again gather in the Arena to fight for their lives. The only snag is - are they new Tributes, or familiar faces? Catching Fire, the much anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games, is due to be released on November 22 in North America and on the 21st of November in the United Kingdom.
During the tour, the two are to offer speeches and "support". "Chins up, smiles on!", reminds Effie, hinting that the Capitol is still lurking and perhaps, the fate of Panem lies with the two victors. During The Victory Tour, Katniss catches wind of a brewing rebellion - a rebellion that could change not only Panem, but Peeta and Katniss' lives, once again, forever. With Snow angrier at her for changing the way of the Hunger Games, and now watching her every move even more closely now, Katniss must do what is best to protect not only her family and Peeta, but Gale, her best friend.
It is soon announced from The Capitol that it is the Quarter Quell, which occurs every 25 years and marks the defeat of the Districts by The Capitol.
For the 75th Hunger Games, previous victors from each district must participate. Katniss and Peeta are picked to represent District 12 (the only other winner being Haymitch, who is now their mentor). Along the way, they form alliances with other past victors, such as Mags and Finnick Odair, to make their way. They battle their foes and sometimes vicious obstacles.
Who will survive the 75th Annual Hunger Games?
It's anticipated that Catching Fire will break numerous box office records and is strongly rumoured to bump either The Avengers or Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows 7.2 out of their top spots.
As the first film was so popular and successful, it wouldn't be surprising if Catching Fire will follow in its successor's footsteps.
