by Sean Naraborough I’m currently working on an article about The Last of Us being turned into a film, and was nearly finished with it, until the story of Maisie Williams possibly playing Ellie in the film adaption came out, and screwed everything up. This story came to fruition after during a Comic-Con panel where the makers of the film adaption teased that Maisie was in talks to play Ellie. More speculation was caused with the fact that Maisie and Neil Druckmann, the writer of the game and film, were having conversations over Twitter. A couple of people I know who are both fans of The Last of Us and Game of Thrones are very excited that Arya Stark could play Ellie. Now, I don’t watch Game Of Thrones (Yes, I know, I’m an idiot. Voice your anger below), but I know Maisie is one of the stand out actresses from the show. The fact that I know who she is without watching the show is a credit to how good of an actress she is. by Cookie N Screen So it’s the weekend and unfortunately, we’ve stopped with the “well, we’re at work and can’t do anything about it” excuses to quell the pangs of envy boiling in our stomachs and we are entire Hulk rage, green eyed monster about it all. Yes, San Diego Comic Con is in full swing and we’re grumbling on the other side of the pond, grumbling as we click another exclusive video, panel and flick through as much Benedict Cumberbatch news as possible. Sigh. This time next year, right? Well, now we have simmered down, it’s time to bring you the latest film news from San Diego by Jo Johnstone Its that time of the month again. Our monthly dive into stop-motion animation has looked at some great work. There have been tears shed and jaws left hanging open but for this mouth feature we're going for something a little lighter. This year audiences everywhere marvelled at the awesomness that was The Lego Movie. The film delivered a freshness and originality that no one predicted. Since myself and the I'm With Geek family have already gushed over the film, we look at a work inspired by the film. Today, we're looking at the work of How It Should Have Ended who parody the much loved movie in their first stop-motion episode. by Robbie Jones Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage. There’s something quite unsettling about that sentence, isn’t there? Nowadays, mention the name and the God awful remake of The Wicker Man comes to mind, or terrible comic book films, or terrible films in general. But there was a time when Cage wasn’t a lunatic, and his films were pretty decent. Let’s take a look at some of the best. Before we start, there are two films which I haven’t seen yet but are fan favourites and should be mentioned: Lord of War, featuring Jared Leto, and The Coen Brothers’ Raising Arizona. If you haven’t seen them, check them out, that’s what I’ll be doing! |
