The movie centres on the comic books second Ant-Man (good because the first one wound up being, not so, well, great,) Scott Lang is a petty criminal, if you couldn’t tell by all the plasters, who is taken in by Dr. Hank Pym and trained in the art of Ant-Man technology. That means working with a suit that, a la Mrs Pepperpot, shrinks him to tiny sizes and increases strength.
Ok. So Ant-Man may have a laughable superpower but genuinely, seeing Paul Rudd take up the mantle of a superhero who will likely join the Avengers at some point is exciting. Though this picture may look like Eminem in Green Mile, the moodiness and hero transformation has been set. We’re feeling very much like Mark Ruffalo, Rudd is amazing and only he can add some gravitas and humour to the role. Hopefully now, the doomed production will kick off again and when it comes to release, we’ll be blown away. Yet the fears are still there.
A film that drove Edgar Wright away?
It still squeaks “no.”
(still no footage from this film so enjoy more Mark Ruffalo and Paul Rudd geeking out over one another.)
