A few months ago, I was in Walt Disney World and was eating lunch, scrolling through Facebook on my iPod Touch, when a certain post on a Disney group caught my eye. Gary Sinise was also in Disney. I freaked out, because not only do I love Gary Sinise, but his portrayal of Lt. Dan in Forest Gump is one of my all time favourite film roles. I immediately messaged Cookie and asked (okay, let’s get real, begged) if I could write an article on actors who have truly brought their literary counterparts to life. Let’s take a look at a few of those.
Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter
(The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon)
Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander
(The original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy)
Richard Harris as Dumbledore
(Harry Potter 1 & 2)
Gary Sinise as Lt. Dan
(Forrest Gump)
Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood
(Harry Potter 5 – 8)
What Do You Think?
One of the most essential things of making a book-based film is getting the cast absolutely perfect.
It takes someone of absolute pure and genuine talent to properly portray a famous book character.
