Good eve to you, with all festive cheer,
We shall look at a book decidedly queer,
It is not unlike the stories of old,
Except for the fact its inhabitants are cold.
Not with a chill that one may have come to expect,
More with a death, and a craving to dissect.
For what we have here is a tale retold,
Of old Mr Scrooge and a time of old,
But here you’ll find, little festive delight,
For his little world is riddled with blight.
A zombie curse, I guess you could say,
Making the Christmas we know a far less joyful day.
The story put forth in this five issue tome,
Has old Mr Scrooge visited in his home,
Not by a friend who’s currently alive,
But more one who’s dead and rotting inside.
He warns our friend Scrooge of what he will see,
Throughout the night, the spirits of three.
Each will explain what has come to pass,
And how only he, can stop this unholy mass.
But can Mr Scrooge change his un-festive ways,
And re-bring cheer to these cold Christmas days?
The story unfolds at a quickening pace,
That’s clever and fun and kept with good faith.
Although its issues may only number five,
A great deal of story is pushed with good drive.
A drive by the writer Mr Jim McCann,
Who fills it with fun and honours the man.
The man who is Dickens, I think would be proud,
To see how his story’s evolved with the crowd.
The writing is fresh and consistently good,
A feat that many writers wish that they could.
Just when I thought I had seen it all twice,
I found that this tale was decidedly nice.
When I thought zombies stale, with nowhere to go,
Along comes this story which struck with a blow,
A blow that is good, and not filled pain,
That’s refreshed my love of zombies again.
Jordi Tarragona, a great artist is he.
Although it’s quite dark and bloody at times,
The Christmas spirit progressively climbs.
As Mr Scrooge’s eyes start to open,
So does the colour begin to be woken,
In come the greens, the reds and the blues,
And gone are the greys giving far grander views,
Views of the trees, the sky and the clouds,
And less are the views of the festering crowds.
This is a book that’s second to none,
Just consider the pages of real zombie fun,
I guess it may not be to everyone’s taste,
But those who like Christmas and some good zombie waste,
There’s far worse you can read, at this time of year,
So give this a shot if you have the book near.
I recommend it to all, who want to have fun,
For those who do not, you’ll surely get none.
Now I send you my thanks, for reading this review,
I hope you’ve enjoyed and are not feeling blue,
For this time of year we should all feel the cheer
Of sweet Santa Claus and his flying reindeer.
So wrap up at home, in a bed that is soft,
And enjoy Christmas zombies, as snow is aloft.
