It’s in need of an update. I’ve included another staff member from IWG, plus some other tidbits. I’m always in search of people to contribute. It helps the project. It’s also promoting literacy, and keeping literacy alive for the kids I’m doing this for. Luckily, people are still contributing. Here’s Leah’s contribution!
“It’s hard to decide what my favourite book was as a child. There is the Roald Dahl collection, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hungry Caterpillar and The Cat in the Hat.
But then I think back to the bookshelf I had as a kid, and it was mostly dominated by Disney classics. I had a collection of at least fifteen of the hardcover books. If I ever wanted to just read something, I would read them. They were simple and easy, they had lovely pictures and they were well-known stories.
But which was my favourite?
The Lion King. Although I had all of the Disney books, The Lion King will always be my favourite (it is also my favourite Disney film). The first stuffed toy I had as a baby was a Simba, which was larger than me to begin with. I would sit and read the book, with Simba tucked in the crook of my arm, in awe of the beautiful images and the brilliant (but emotional) storyline.
I hope one day I will write a children’s book that is just as good as The Lion King.”
Thanks, Leah! It is appreciated. I’ve had contributions from several cast members of Downton Abbey, along with several children’s books authors and a VERY well known author. I’ve got someone directly associated with Doctor Who. It’s going well!
