Cardeno C is an author that writes gay romance, has won awards from Love Romances, More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards and the Goodreads M/Romance awards; outside of writing books, he volunteers working with gay rights activists and is also the corporate type. Cardeno writes anonymously. I.e the people from his personal life do not know he writes and as a writer people do not know his real name.

The plot of the book is extremely good and well developed. The literary world is plagued with piles of young adult fantasy romance that doesn’t really live up to the hype and expectation. Cardeno C, however, has combined the paranormal, fantasy and homosexuality to create a unique series that keeps you entertained and glued to the pages. Samuel is both infuriating yet completely loveable. He is so caught up in building up his knowledge and becoming the best alpha possible that he doesn’t notice or understand his connection to Korban, whilst the reading audience sits there waiting infuriated for him to realise. You find yourself getting emotionally attached to the characters and, when the worst happens to Samuel, you do really feel for him.
However despite the unique spin on genre and the great plot, there is one main negative: the book kind of just ends. There’s no real massive climax. You don’t know if Samuel successfully becomes alpha, if they take over the neighbouring pack or if Korban gives it to his friend. In other words, you turn the last page expecting more pages but there isn’t anything else. However the previous two books in the series feature characters mentioned in this novel, and so we can hope that we can learn more if another book in the series is published. The novel could have been a bit longer.
But Cardeno C has created a great M/Romance novel. You can always find something to nitpick about. Perhaps it doesn’t end on a massive BOOM but it does make you want to read more in the series (if there is more. This is a hint at you CC.) If you take anything from this article, it should be that you should read this book and revel in the magnificence that is Cardeno C and his Mates series.
