After the wonderful success of the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden and constant requests from the people, a museum entirely dedicated to the life and work of Dr. Seuss is being built in his hometown and birthplace.
The museum will not only serve to memorialize the brilliant work of one of my favorite poets, but to also promote literacy while remembering his life in Springfield. In the format of an interactive, or hands-on, theme, there will be a wide range of reading activities for a broad spectrum of ages. Everything will also be bilingual, so that as many adults and children as possible can participate and enjoy all that the museum has to offer.
On the second floor, the theme will be appropriately called ‘Ted’s Room’, for Dr. Seuss’ full name of Theodor Seuss Geisel. It will serve as a frozen replica of the space where he did his writing and where he channeled his creative genius! Among the space’s décor, one will find paintings and drawings, along with all the right furniture to make it perfectly authentic! This part of the museum is set to open sometime in 2017.
One of the things Dr. Seuss loved, was getting children excited about reading. I couldn’t think of a better way to immortalize that love for future generations, who still have yet to be born. I have never in my life met a child who wasn’t a fan of his writing and characters.
I’ve already added The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss to my bucket list! Who else is excited about this news?
