It is the story of a small-town teen rocked with the revelation that his father is gay. by Olivia Grey Being Emily is a novel in which the reader follows a Emily (born as Christopher), on her journey into transsexualism. Filled with every emotion a writer can evoke into their reader's hearts, this is not one to be missed. by Hayley Charlesworth There are many people who say that the true mark of LGBT equality in fiction is when a story will work equally well with straight leads as it will with LGBT leads. This can be said of teen-queen Maureen Johnson’s The Bermudez Triangle, which, while exploring a lesbian relationship and sexual identity, perfectly encapsulates the atmosphere of any friendship group when two members start dating. by Leah Stone This is the only book I have read to date that has breached the subject of transsexuals and that has an all round positive message about sexuality. The way that Jackie writes about the occurrences in the book in order to portray the length that transsexuals go through, to tell a love story based on deception and lies to the rest of the world, yet a life of truths for Joss Moody and his wife Millie. by Leah Stone Will Grayson, Will Grayson is a collaborative novel by the amazing mind of John Green (who brought you The Fault in our Stars and Looking for Alaska) and the fantastic David Levithan (Boy Meets Boy, The Realm of Possibility.) As you can tell by the title, there are two Will Grayson’s, both protagonists, with Green writing the chapters for one and Levithan writing the chapters for the other. It remained on the New-York Times Children’s Best Sellers list for three weeks. by Hayley Charlesworth Lost Souls is the debut novel of one-time horror writer Poppy Z Brite, a twisted, but ultimately gripping, tale of vampires, family, friendship, and isolation. NOTE: Poppy Z Brite now uses the name of Billy Martin, and identifies as male, so the male pronoun will be used in this review. by Hayley Charlesworth Telling the tale of dashing Edwardian secret agent Lucifer Box, The Vesuvius Club is the first book in Mark Gatiss’ delightful trilogy of spy novels, also encompassing The Devil in Amber and Black Butterfly. As one would expect from the pen of Gatiss, Box is a charming, intelligent rake possessed of a quick wit and painting skills. He is also bisexual. |
