It’s back. This time, it’s not so intense. I realized several things over my time off from this project.  I also realized, that I never fully focused in my previous update, of what I actually learned from the project. So here’s another update.

Last week, we heard about J.K. Rowling’s incredible act of kindness towards a young lady, Cassidy, whose entire family had been murdered by Cassidy’s uncle. At the memorial service, Cassidy mentioned one of Dumbledore’s quotes, about finding light amongst the darkness. After Rowling caught wind of this, she sent Cassidy a care package, including a letter from “Dumbledore” himself. However, this isn’t the only act of kindness that the famed author has done over the past few years.

This week ends the From Page to Stage series. We’ve been looking at books that have made the transition to the stage. Several have been a surprise, such as Legally Blonde. Here are several more books that have made the transition. Those reading this, at 3:48 of the Mary Poppins video, my old dance teacher, Nicolas Dromard, can be seen on the viewer’s right, next to Mary.

It’s not very often that the magic of Harry Potter comes to life. However, for one young lady, it did. Cassidy Stay, fifteen, unfortunately lost her entire immediate family when her uncle murdered them. Luckily, Cassidy survived; unfortunately, she was the only one. During the funeral for her family members, Cassidy quoted one of Dumbledore’s most famous quotes and J.K. Rowling caught wind of this.

The Elevator Pitch, that terrifying thing where you have to sell your entire concept for your book/film/TV show in the length of time it takes to travel in a lift. The I'm With Geek site have all come together to create pitches for their sections given a title to work from, and now, it is the Book Team's turn to present our own ideas under the title of Rings in the Rainbow. How have our team interpreted the title, and whose pitch is the best? Check them out below (a couple even have accompanying book covers!), and be sure to let us know your favourite in the comments!

A little while ago, I wrote about books that have made the successful jump from page to stage. While I only selected a few for the original article, I later realized there are so many novels that have been turned into massively successful shows. Here are a few more.

Sex. Let’s talk about sex. Okay, now that I have your attention, you might as well just keep reading. This will be about England, sex, a doctor and a blog. Got it? Good. Belle de Jour is, or was – depending on how you look at it, the author of the massively successful Secret Diaries of a Call Girl book series. The stories tell of Belle’s time working as a high class London call girl. They are quite explicit, but worth a read. However, who exactly is Belle? She also goes by another pen name, Taro. Read on and let’s find out.

Midwife calling! Okay, no, I’m not a midwife, nor do I live in England, or in the 1950’s. Call the Midwife: A True Story of the East End in the 1950’s is the first in a trilogy of memoirs. The trilogy was written by Jennifer Worth, a former district nurse and midwife. While there are three books in the series, this review focuses on the first book.
