Stephen King, who is most well known for his horror stories and the film adaptations, is still writing after all this time. His latest book, Mr Mercedes, is to be released next week on the 3rd of June. To help celebrate this next best-seller, a series of videos are being posted, one a day starting from today. They are narrated by one of King's previous book characters and the dialogue, once put together from all five mini-animations, will tell the audience something about the character, Mr Mercedes. This first video is narrated by young Danny, from one of his more popular books, The Shining.
Danny discusses looking into a person's mind as it focuses on a skull. It has been said that 'MR MERCEDES is a riveting cat-and-mouse thriller from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of an obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.' It is already known that Mr Mercedes is a killer, so is this hinting at something that may have happened to him in the past that has caused him to become a murder, or is it related to how his mind works? Danny's past flickers across the screen, causing me to wonder if Mr Mercedes may have had a role in one of King's other books and this will be part of the mystery. The video is dark and mysterious and doesn't allude to much other than an emphasis on the past and future. What interests me if whether the characters who narrate the videos are chosen for a particular reason, opposed to just being popular, well-known characters.
Mr Mercedes looks like it will be a thrilling read and though the video tells us little, I am now sat on the edge of my seat.
